English translation: to tender back (the) oath

Arabic term or phrase: رد اليمين
ولمن وجهت إليه اليمين أن يردها على خصمه، على أنه لا يجوز الرد إذا انصبت اليمين على واقعة لا يشترك فيها الخصمان، بل يستقل بها شخص من وجهت إليه.

I understand that رد اليمين denotes that the litigant put to oath may request its adversary to take it itself. It needs a precise denotation. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much. I could address Heba and Moshin by their names. I browsed your profile to figure out your exact name but couldn't. Anyway, thank you very much.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you. I think this is the sense about the issue. However, I see behind it a factor of rejection (as suggested by Heba's answer) before the oath is (tendered back) to the party requesting its litigant to take the oath. Thank you for you both.

Reject: يأتي الفعل المذكور بمعنى "يرد" وليس "يرفض" فقط
Faruqi's Law Dictionary, p 595

Also the verb"Refute" can be used as يرد القسم/اليمين
فضلاً عن المعنى المتعارف عليه وهو يدحض/يفند
to refute the oath: يرد اليمين

Notes to answerer
Asker: Dear Heba. I went first for decline which is similar to reject. But both are one thing that may be related to (refrain or abstain) which entail the meaning of (النكول).

Asker: Hello Heba. I checked Al-Farouqi's. It didn't connect between the meaning and oath for both verbs (reject and refute) except if they are so in use. It is not about rejecting oath as invalid by an oath taker, it is all about a litigant declining to take and oath and at the same time requests to administer the oath to the requesting litigant. I think it is a two-way process.

Asker: Heba your give and take was really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to help me.
