En español, se utiliza muy comúnmente la palabra "portaminas" para referirse a este tipo de instrumento de escritura (leadholders o mechanical pencils). Otros nombre aceptados son "Lapiz Mecánico" o "Lapiz de gráfito" pero no son comunes.
