Hola a tod@s,
Estoy con unas instrucciones de uso de un instrumento médico de microcatéter y me aparece esta frase:
"Insert the recommended 0.035” guide wire into the Guide Sheath through its Luer Lock Hub and advance the guide wire to approximately 5 cm beyond the Guide Sheath’s distal tip"
Había empezado a traducir Guide Sheath como cable guía, pero parece que es algo diferente.

Como bien dices, no se trata de "cable guía", ya que eso sería "guide wire". Yo hago bastantes traducciones sobre catéteres, y siempre traduzco "guide sheath" como "funda guía". Otras alternativas son "cubierta guía" o "vaina guía", pero mi cliente siempre me ha aceptado sin problemas la opción de "funda guía". Espero que te sirva.
