Italian term

ente non di piccole dimensioni

Italian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Management
This is from a report by a supervisory body (organo di vigilanza) regarding the implementation of the organizational and management model required by Legislative Decree 231.

"L'OdV ha preso atto che la società è stata classificata come *Ente non di Piccole Dimensioni* e la combinazione del "Rischio Società" e del "Rischio Attività Sensibili" ha determinato un Rischio complessivo 231"Medio"."

I am tempted to translate it as "not a small business," but I wonder whether there is a translation more specific to the context.

All suggestions are welcome.

To: Phil It is clearly a company. Your suggestion fits to a T. Thank you very much.
philgoddard Mar 14, 2014:
Marco It says "società", right? So it's not a government body as Tom is implying?
Tom in London Mar 14, 2014:
Larger than small What a strange expression !
Lara Barnett Mar 14, 2014:
@ Marco Do you know what size this is actually referring to at all?

non-small business

In different contexts, I would be tempted to say "large", but I think I'd stick close to the Italian here.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tom in London : "ente" does not mean "business". A corporation in this case is an ADMINISTRATIVE corporation, as your own dictionary definition makes clear

Yes it does. One of its meanings is corporation: http://dictionary.reverso.net/italian-english/ente

I think we need to heed the Italian linguists on this one:)
neutral James (Jim) Davis : A business can be classified as a small business, but a business can also be classified as an entity.

Medium-sized enterprises

Just a suggestion as they are not small but not big companies either, but an important category especially in times of crises
