engine with a battery-powered electric starter

While electric starters are ubiquitous in passenger cars, this is not necessarily the case for large diesels - many of them use pneumatic or hydraulic drives or even small petrol engines to start. So, specifying an electric starter isn't meaningless for them.

agree rkillings : Don't need both 'battery-powered' and 'electric', so omit the latter, but you should specify 'starter *motor*'

Thanks, you certainly have a point on 'battery-powered'; 'starter motor' vs. simply 'starter' is less critical, and there is yet another option: 'with electric start'
