Eerst wordt de weegschaal op de bruto nulstand gezet, dan kom de container/pan/vrachtwagen erbij (tarra - het niet bruikbare gedeelte van het totaalgewicht) en wordt de netto nulstand ingesteld.
Verwarrend bij deze omschrijving vind ik dat over 'netto' wordt gesproken terwijl de situatie inclusief tarra is. Er wordt echter gedoeld op het netto weegresultaat: wanneer je nu product toevoegt lees je in een keer het netto productgewicht af.
