I have an academic hold. What do I need to do so I can register for classes?

If you have an academic hold you will need to meet with an academic advisor or counselor before you are able to register for classes. There are three types of academic standing holds:

1. A College Prep (CP) hold is based on your placement test scores. To have this hold removed you must meet with an academic advisor and develop an academic plan. You will be required to have at least one more meeting with that advisor before you register for subsequent terms.

2. Probation holds are placed on your registration if you have not met one or both of the Standards for Academic Progress for two terms in a row. The standards that must be met are:

(1) Achieve a culmulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, and

(2) Successfully complete two-thirds (66.67%) of attempted credits each term.

3. Suspension holds are placed on a student account when you have not met the Standards for Academic Progress while on probation. Students on suspension must also make an appointment with an Advisor or Counselor. Please see www.pcc.edu/ASA for important suspension re-entry process and deadlines.
