English 9A/PBC

English to Spanish Other Education / Pedagogy School transcript
This appears as a course title in a transcript from Oregon. 9A is the Grade but PBC can´t find the meaning. Anyone from Oregon or USA who can tell me what this means. Thanks a lot!!!!!

@Carolina You have 3 options: 1) contact the client 2) contact the school 3) write, "incomprehensible abbreviation".
Carolina Grupe (asker) Sep 12, 2017:
Hi Dariusz,

I have already checked the school website and the programs of study and the term appears but only the acronym with no explanation.

Proficiency Based Credit

Based on my quick research last night.
Peer comment(s):

agree Charles Davis : My proposed translation was "crédito basado en experiencia escolar". Something like that, anyway. / I'd give this even higher confidence. It fits the context perfectly and it's an Oregon thing. // Whoops! I meant extraescolar!

PROFICIENCY BASED CREDIT
Profciency Based Credit (PBC) offers students the opportunity
to earn graduation credit by demonstrating profciency in Oregon
State Content Standards. PBC applies to experiences previously
referred to as alternative experience––such as extended travel,
summer experiences, internships, community music, dance or
art, etc. PBC may also refer to opportunities previously called
Independent Study. Students interested in PBC must meet with
their Academic Counselor prior to the experience.
*STUDENTS MUST APPLY FOR PBC PRIOR TO THE EXPERIENCE
Note from asker:
I wrote to the Principal and was waiting for an answer, but I think this is it. I thought it was something about Proficiency but could not guess the other letters.
