Portuguese term

cidade universitária

Portuguese to English Tech/Engineering Architecture urbanismo

That's good Doug....even turkeys get it....ha...ha Um bom dia do perú para todos/todas :)
Douglas Bissell Nov 23, 2017:
There's nothing complex about Thanksgiving, even turkeys get it, though perhaps not in the same sense...
Have a good one my friends! And thanks for all your help over the past year and years.
Um abraço
Douglas

I believe this is a very COMPLEX situation :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all the PT-EN translators here at PROZ.

Nick Taylor Nov 23, 2017:
Although university complex does appear in some 1960s texts but not the 1930s
Nick Taylor Nov 23, 2017:
Actually University Complex (in its ambiguity) could be an adequate term dor "campus" however the use of "complex" IMO is somewhat of an anacronysm given the dates.
airmailrpl Nov 23, 2017:
"university complex" "university complex" might be equal to "University campus"-> it is in the add on to Marjolein Snippe's suggestion
Nick Taylor Nov 23, 2017:
Nothing else makes any sense. A campus is traditionally the land on which a college or university and related institutional buildings are situated. Usually a college campus includes libraries, lecture halls, residence halls, student centers or dining halls, and park-like settings.

A modern campus is a collection of buildings and grounds that belong to a given institution, either academic or non-academic.

University district

This is not a city, it is just part of the place
Note from asker:

university grounds

just a suggestion - the area that belongs to the university and where the university buildings are located.

If you don't like "grounds", perhaps "grounds and buildings"? Or "university complex"?
Example sentence:

Maintaining and regularly reviewing a maintenance programme which takes account of short, medium and long term needs of all buildings and University grounds.

Note from asker:

"In the University enclosure proper there are 52 acres. From the boundaries of this enclosure, the ground slopes away sharply in every direction except toward ..."

"I began planting trees within the university enclosure … Gradually some of my students joined me; one class after another …"
