Russian term

за комп полез

Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Со вздохом встаю и направляюсь в ванную: ведь не умывался еще - как проснулся, сразу за комп полез, закачки проверять.

The phrase sounds rather slangy, so I'm trying to come up with something better than just a neutral translation...

You are right Turdimurod, as long as the translation sounds natural. If it doesn't, I'd better avoid that.

Anything in the source text must mean something, must have stylistic function, so the both terms "полез" and "комп" has its function in the text. The speaker used colloquial,. slang language "комп" rather than "computer", and it gives the reader an opinion about the speaker (who is one of the character of literature text). So, it is better to use slang than computer. IMHO

It's not a good idea to use a word-for-word approach in terms of register, probably, but it's surely necessary to convey the overall register of the sentence.

In Russian text (source), it is "комп", not "компьютер", So, we can't render it into English as "computer",
It is better to use the colloquial or slang word, for ex: "Puter" as Maria Kaverina suggested or "E-brain", better get rid of "computer" here.

Thank you for your help Tatyana, but he was rather sleepy and slow, so I'm not sure whether "jumped" really fits here. Although it's a nice expression as it is.

"Rig" is a colloquial term for pc/desktop.
