unauthorized (data) acquisition or against unauthorized access by third parties
"The goal is to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or total loss, destruction, unauthorized (data) acquisition or against unauthorized access by third parties."
A lot of matches can indeed be found on Linguee, it can also be translated as "unauthorized obtaining (of data)" instead of acquisition, but the meaning remains the same.

: Yep. Or ‘unauthorised’ if you’re using British English spelling.

: Post-grading since "data acquisition" is wrong and Linguee is certainly not a trustworthy site. I've posted the actual terms in the d-box.

: Why have you suggested 'request' as a translation for 'Erlangung'. Your source (Linguee) suggests 'acquisition', which clearly goes further that merely 'requesting'. https://www.linguee.de/deutsch-englisch/search?source=auto&q...

(protect from) unauthorized access or retrieval
Unbefugter Zugriff is a no-brainer but "unbefugte Kenntnisnahme" is slightly more challenging. I think "retrieval' is slightly better than "data acquisition" when it comes to malicious intent.
"Their purpose is/ They're designed to protect your data from accidental or intentional corruption, partial or complete loss, destruction, or unauthorized access or retrieval by third parties."

: There's too much unnecessary repetition in the previous two answers. In fact, you could argue that access and retrieval are the same thing.

I also almost decided it was an unnecessary nuance, but it wasn't difficult to translate, so I kept it in.

Discussion
"A personal data breach is a breach of security which leads to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to personal data."

I don't think you need more than this. Michael is right, though. The German sentence is an embarassment.
In any case, enjoy your evening, all of you.
Best wishes
The following is a related question. It is "Kenntnisnahme," but it is virtually the same as Kenntniserlangung. Though you need to check the d-box; the answers are a mess:
https://www.proz.com/kudoz/german-to-english/computers-syste...
And then there's something called Google:
https://sites.google.com/site/bus141secureorg/unauthorized-d...
Cf. https://www.sde.idaho.gov/tech-services/isee/files/general/p...
One example in German:
"Der Freizeitpark Sommerrodelbahn haftet ebenso nicht für die unbefugte Kenntniserlangung von persönlichen Daten durch Dritte, wie beispielsweise aufgrund von Hackerangriffen auf die Datenbank."
https://www.sommerrodelbahn.de/de_DE/impressum/gewinnspiele....
"Accidental manipulation" sounds a bit funny, by the way. It's more like modification or alteration. You don't really need it anyway; you can't read something you can't gain access to (the wonders of technology).
