Muy agradecido recibiré cualquier ayuda que mis estimados colegas me puedan dar en traducir esta frase correctamente. Lector será nefrólogo estadounidense. Gracias.

Discussion

Chema Nieto Castañón Sep 8, 2019:
Hi Helena,
"En oblea" literally means "rounded" in this case. I believe it is not equivalent to scarred. "En oblea" is a "graphic" description of how the glomeruli look like as a reference to the shape of the glomeruli when they are sclerosed.
Helena Chavarria Sep 8, 2019:
@Chema My answer includes 'Globally sclerotic glomeruli'. I suggested 'scarred/sclerotic' because the asker only wants to know the translation of 'en oblea'.
¡Saludos!

We used Glepp1 peroxidase-stained histologic sections to search for putative short-lived intermediates between normal glomeruli and globally sclerosed glomeruli that from the preceding data would be expected to be present in old but not young kidneys.

Tanto la glomeruloesclerosis global (glomérulos en oblea) como la segmentaria fueron hallazgos muy comunes, la primera estuvo presente en 81,1% de los casos, con un promedio de glomérulos afectados del 19,3%.

Glomerulosclerosis refers to scarring or hardening of the glomeruli -- blood vessels located in the kidneys. The glomeruli filter the blood as it passes through the kidneys. They remove waste fluids that then leave the body as urine.

Many diseases and conditions can affect your kidney function by attacking and damaging the glomeruli, the tiny filtering units inside your kidney where blood is cleaned. These diseases and conditions are called glomerular diseases and can have many different causes. Focal Segmental glomerulosclerosis is a type of glomerular disease and describes scarring (sclerosis) in your kidney. The scarring of FSGS only takes place in small sections of each glomerulus (filter), and only a limited number of glomeruli are damaged at first. Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis affects both children and adults. Males are affected slightly more often than females, and it occurs more frequently in African Americans

Globally sclerotic glomeruli (GSG) occur with both normal aging and kidney disease. However, it is unknown whether any GSG or only GSG exceeding that expected for age is clinically important.

Glomerulosclerosis is scarring in the tiny blood vessels in the kidneys called the glomeruli. These are the tiny units in the kidneys that filter urine from the blood.
