Arabic term

عبد ربه

Arabic to English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs Moroccan court documents
I have seen this term at the end of Moroccan court documents, such as a divorce decree, in association with names.

It has appeared twice at the very end of the document, with two names and two signatures. I have given the whole document below (the names are changed of course and I have omitted all the identification details).

In case it is helpful, I believe that this phrase

حضر لدى شهيديه في مكتبهما

means something like

"appeared before the two public notaries in their office"

Discussion

Ludina Sallam (asker) Oct 9, 2021:
Thank you Abd Alrahman. This really helps clarify it, especially comparing it with Yemen. I think saying "In service to God" would be understood by American readers as a formality, but also "Mr." would work, or as Saeed Najmi suggested, just leaving it out would work.
Abd Alrahman Almidani Oct 9, 2021:
Cultural titles Official documents in some countries contain specific titles that will sound strange and ambiguous if they are translated literally in legal contexts. In Yemen, for example, they use الأخ and in Morocco, they use عبد ربه. I cannot translate الأخ as "brother" because this would complicate things for the non-Arab readers. That's why I prefer clarity in this context. عبد ربه is just a local title and "Mr." is its equivalent in English language and other cultures as well.
Ludina Sallam (asker) Oct 8, 2021:
Maybe one could also say "In service to God,[name], [signature]"?
Ludina Sallam (asker) Oct 7, 2021:
Thank you. I wonder if this phrase could also be used with judges, or if it is only used with notary publics as a special phrase?
Saeed Najmi Oct 6, 2021:
عبد ربه The phrase literally means "servant of God" and refers to the public notaries indeed. It further means "abiding by God's rules".

Mr.

I believe it should be translated as "Mr."

My first answer was Abed Rabbah, but this is a common phrase in Moroccan files. Therefore it can't be a name.

Thank you for your help.
Thank you, I will choose your answer, while acknowledging that it could also possibly be translated in other ways such as Mr., or "In service to God" or leaving it out, since it is a formality (see discussion).
