Discussion

Mario Freitas Mar 18, 2023:
Negative I checked several lab exam reports in English, and I didn't see any occurrence of a similar term. It seems they will either put the actual value in the report (even if it's very low), or just "Negative". But it's not my area of expertise, so I won't suggest an answer.

This suggestion is based on the idea of the cell type being rare, but it is also possible that rare is being used to denote both the type and the amount of cells. If that is the case, it may be a good idea to use different translations for each occurrence of the term "rara" in the original text.
Example sentence:

Question: What are rare epithelial cells?

The enumeration of rare circulating epithelial cells (CEpCs) in the peripheral blood of metastatic cancer patients has shown promise for improved cancer prognosis.

or "very few", like you said.

From https://symptomstreatment.org/epithelial-cells-in-urine/: "Epithelial cells in urine are quantified as ‘few’ or ‘many’, or as ‘occasional’ or ‘moderate’. The presence of certain types of epithelial cells in urine, especially the squamous and transitional kinds are thought to be normal range which is generally 0-4 / lpf"
