En Colombia, para poder graduarse de la universidad, normalmente, se hace una tesis o trabajo de grado; sin embargo, a veces permiten hacer un diplomado, pasantías, intercambio, etc. A todas esas opciones se les dice "opciones de grado". Vi una traducción de "elective subject", pero no me convence para este caso. ¡Agradezco su colaboración!

I agree with Alberto that "graduation project" would work for "una tesis o trabajo de grado", especially in the US, but when it involves other things like those mentioned in the query, I'd prefer to call them degree options, although that may be more suitable for UK English.
