SMA

English translation: Sequential Multiple Analysis (Analyses: SMA A and SMA B)

Medical - Medical (general)
Italian term or phrase: SMA
I am reviewing a translation

From a list of drugs and blood tests for a patient in hospital with acute myeloid leukemia, after a bone marrow transplant:

....
Esami giornalieri (2/die)
Esami SMA A+B + Emocromo (1/die)
ISOLYTE INFUS 6 SACC 2000 ML (1/die)

The only SMA blood test I know of is for Smooth Muscle Atrophy... but there is no A+B version.
The translator has translated this is "Routine Admission Chemistry" which doesn't sound right to me.
I'd appreciate your help!

English translation:Sequential Multiple Analysis (Analyses: SMA A and SMA B)
Explanation:
"Sequential Multiple Analysis A (SMA A)" and "Sequential Multiple Analysis B (SMA B)." Routine admission chemistry tests commonly performed in hospitals to assess a patient's overall health status, especially after a bone marrow transplant.

Part of the broader SMA panel, which includes various blood chemistry measurements. The SMA A test usually includes electrolyte levels (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate), glucose, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and calcium. The SMA B test typically includes liver function tests (bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase, and albumin).

SMA = = anticorpi sierici anti-muscolatura liscia
anti smooth muscle antibodies (SMA)

Explanation:
SMA = anticorpi sierici anti-muscolatura liscia = anti smooth muscle antibodies

SMA = anti smooth muscle antibodies
Background
Antinuclear antibodies (ANA), smooth muscle antibodies (SMA) and antibodies to a soluble liver antigen/liver pancreas (anti-SLA/LP) are useful markers that can help clinicians to diagnose and classify autoimmune hepatitis (AIH).
Objectives
To determine whether ANA, SMA and anti-SLA/LP help to accurately diagnose patients with AIH.

agree  Kimberly Vanzi: https://medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/smooth-muscle-antibody-sma... They are looking for these antibodies because this is after a bone marrow transplant and they want to make sure the patient is not rejecting it

Asker: Looks good. Do you have references?

Asker: The reference doesn't say SMA A and B. I need something that gives me direct evidence of what this stands for.
