Spanish term or phrase: pinceladas de toques
This is a text on a major 20th-century Argentine painter:

is there a difference between pincelada (brushstroke) and pinceladas de toques?

Another example of toques in an earlier paragraph (here it seems to be simply brushstrokes):

Through vigorous dashes and streaks

Explanation:
Given the context, I think the emphasis of the paragraph is on the violence and vigor of the painting (i.e. irrumpir, violenta combinación, vigorosas). To match this emphasis in idiomatic English, perhaps doing away with brushstroke altogether could be an option.

This seems all the more reasonable because the description refers not to the painter, but to the painting, as though it were coming to life.

Relevant definition of "dash": splash, spatter. "Her pants were dashed with mud". I think this starts to convey the energy of the painting.

Example sentence(s):
  • Her pants were dashed with mud.
