Any Tequila experts out there?

This appears in a certificate of conformity for Tequila from Mexico for translation to British English.

I am happy with the whole text apart from I am not sure where to put "156". From the research I have done it appears that this refers to the Article in the Intellectual Property Law that describes the Designation/Appellation of Origin.

A further question if this is allowed. The Tequila Requlating Council uses both Appelation of Origin and Designation of Origin. I am not sure what the difference is but have gone with Appellation of Origin as this seems to be used more in the Tequila context. https://www.crt.org.mx/index.php/en/pages-2/proteccion-del-t...

Tequila (Patron) 156 (Protected) Designation of Origin

Explanation:
https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Category:Products_w...
The main article for this category is **protected designation of origin**.
Protected designation of origin...
"These laws protects the names of wines, cheeses, hams, sausage, olives, beer, and even regional breads, fruits, and vegetables."

"Patrón 156" refers to the winery.

Asker: Hi Muriel, thank you so much for this. All I found when I searched for 156 was the article of the law! Are you sure that designation of origin is better than appellation of origin? https://www.tequila.net/tequila-faqs/what-is-the-appellation-of-origin-for-tequila.html

neutral  philgoddard: I don't see where "Patrón" comes from. And surely tequila is made in a distillery.

designation of origin Tequila as defined in art. 156

Explanation:

neutral  philgoddard: I don't believe it's anything to do with article 156. It's a code for the region where this particular tequila is made.
