Spanish term

toboganes

Spanish to English Other Other Highways
I'm having trouble finding the English equivalent of this term for highways and roads. Are they dips, humps, bumps... or is it like a "dos d'ane" in

French?? What exactly are they?

Context 1:

speed bumps I don't think they are talking about speed bumps in this context. We are talking about driving over a mountain pass... I don't think they put speed bumps in so that people would slow down on the mountain passes in Northern Spain...

steep slope

let's put it this way... what they call the water slides (verrryyy long and verrry steep) at the Parque Acuático outside of Madrid is tobogán... By extension, I'm pretty sure than any long, steep slope is a tobogán...

thanks... tobogán stuck in my mind because it took me a while to figure that my friend was telling me he would meet me after going down the water slide..., since to me a tobogan is a long sled....
agree María Eugenia Wachtendorff : Absolutely!

thanks
agree Andrée Goreux : Sounds as if they reached the top of the mountain and then went down a fairly straight road with steep slopes. Road map, anyone?

Precisely. Exactly the kind of road I LOVE to drive in a European 2-seater, top down, wind in my hair......

steep inclination

I think it refers to a steep drop on the road, a steep inclination. Not necessarily a hump.

I could be wrong though :-/

slopes

Maybe I'm wrong, but rather than bumps or humps the road is full of steep slopes ...

Luck!
