Dutch term

renvooiteken

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Renvooiteken. It's the final term in a set of terms describing a document ("document referentie informatie")
Apart from items such as "Documentnaam", "versiedatum", "versienummer" that are easy to understand it says:
renvooiteken. Is this: referral (Van Dale), amendment (Van Dale, Eurodicautom)? Both dictionaries point to a juridical context but mine's not a legal document at all....

Discussion

Saskia Steur (X) Dec 3, 2005:
Egon and Dave, thank you both! I would agree with Dave that the reference or reference mark is one to be entered between the ' indicated. Interesting phrase, anyway
Dave Calderhead Dec 3, 2005:
In that context, I believe it means reference mark/symbol is ' meaning that references will be included between those symbols in the document -
So you should really award the points to Saskia for her answer.
EgonWegh (asker) Dec 3, 2005:
Thanks for your suggestions. The actual sign (if that's what it is...) that follows the word "renvooiteken" is a single stroke like this: '
So I doubt whether it's an ID number, or an indicator of the revision level. It's not a Belgian document, either ... (sorry!), it's a Dutch document.

in technical drawings "renvooi" is "reference"

revision level

Could be the revision level or sign-off for a version, if it is in the document creation/reference sheet

is this a Belgian document, perhaps?
