Δεν ξέρω αν ισχύει για το Bleak House. Θα διαβάσω λίγο γιατί ίσως να πρέπει να πεις κάποιο απ' αυτά που προτείνεις. Αλλά το Bleak House το αγνοώ παντελώς, ομολογώ.

Εδώ χρησιμοποιείται απλώς ως συνώνυμο του heathen για έμφαση και θα πρέπει να πεις κάτι σαν "άθεος και ειδωλολάτρης".

Είναι από το Bleak House, και τον Chadbank, που κάνει κήρυγμα.
Για το gentile:
1. non-Jewish person: somebody who is not Jewish
2. somebody Christian: somebody who is Christian, as distinguished from somebody who is Jewish
3. non-Mormon: in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, somebody who is not a member of this Church
4. heathen: somebody who does not believe in God (disapproving)
