Cakupan tugas kantor ini bukan hanya tugas kantor catatan sipil dan kependudukan, melainkan mendaftar dan menyimpan segala dokumen yang berkaitan dengan hukum. Di Indonesia, kantor semacam ini tidak ada. Oleh karena itu, saya mengusulkan padanan 'kantor catatan umum'.

'county' tidak memiliki padanan yang tepat sama di Indonesia, yang kesetaraannya beragam di setiap negara. Daerah administrasi ini setingkat dengan provinsi di Indonesia. Secara umum, 'county' berpadanan dengan 'daerah' meskipun agak sumir.
