Il riferimento al libro "Lo strano caso del cane ucciso a mezzanotte" ( http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lo_strano_caso_del_cane_ucciso_... ) è lampante, ma non sono sicura di come renderlo in italiano. Voi lascereste il riferimento al libro o cambiereste proprio il modo di dire?

Ciao Floriana, ti propongo questa resa: parafrasando un po' il titolo del romanzo si mantiene il riferimento al libro per chi è in grado di coglierlo, ma si anticipa anche la nuova tendenza non solo a non colpire più i potenti ma nemmeno a minacciarli. Quindi non solo il cane non morde, non abbaia neanche più.
