French term

raisonnement global

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
A major (French) international company has decided to rename the brand of one of its divisions. It has set up an internal think tank group and has written guidelines on how to come up with a new name. Among the considerations is the following point, where XYZ is the name of the company:

Les paramètres pour l'international ne sont pas forcément les mêmes qu'en France. Le raisonnement global de l'activité du Groupe au niveau d'un pays pousse à capitaliser sur la force de la marque XYZ ou de la marque locale.

I just can't quite untangle the meaning of 'raisonnement global' within this sentence.

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : "Overall" and I prefer "approach" to "plan". The former is closer to "raisonnement".

Thanks Nikki - though I rather like philgoddard's 'rationale' - isn't that closer to 'raisonnement' than 'approach'?
agree Yvonne Gallagher : I prefer approach

Global approach

In this context an approach is the way you think about acting with regards to an issue. I would leave reasoning out and just use approach. Though putting reasoning is not wrong.
