French term

mettre en navette

French to English Tech/Engineering Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng chemistry
this concerns the production of sodium hypochlorite. Liquid caustic soda is "mis en navette", and chlorine is countercurrently fed into a packed column. the liquid caustic soda absorbs the chlorine and becomes sodium hypochlorite. Is the navette some kind of tank or vat?
Thanks for your help
