French term

cible aspirationnelle

French to English Marketing Cosmetics, Beauty
Hello,

Just wondering here, as all translations of 'aspirationnelle' seem to imply aspiration on the part of the associated noun, like an aspirational customer. In this case, they are talking about a target customer base; there is one 'cible aspirationnelle' and another 'coeur de cible'.
Is aspirational still a good translation in this context, or is there another marketing term that could be used instead?

Thanks in advance!

@ asker Could you please provide the original sentences? That might help to understand what they mean. At the moment, I can only guess that they differentiate between a "desired target group" and a "core target group".
Jane Phillips Jan 9, 2015:
Am I right in assuming this is the target audience that the company aspires to reach?
Chakib Roula Jan 9, 2015:
Yes,definitely relevant if you say "aspirational" and I can provide proofs.

Example sentence:

the aspirational gap between the upper-middle and the top of the market.

That segment is projected to take a much larger cut of the luxury market in

aspirational target (group)

An additional suggestion, more in line with the original terms.
Example sentence:

n reality, the more narrow the focus, the more concisely the aspirational target group is defined, the broader it becomes.

Showing your brand collection's aspirational target group
