Is this a headline or bullet point? If so, it appears possible to use a verb structure such as "clearly defining placement quality" although "clear definition of..." wouldn't strike me as odd.

Your sentence should be: \"Clear elaboration of the placement quality / positioning quality\".

Yes, taking a second look, the German word should be written in capital: Herausarbeiten (Platzierungsqualitaet as well). This makes it a noun --> elaboration

agree Steffen Walter : It's not an absolute requirement to use a noun here. In quite many a case, En prefers verb structures where you'd find a noun in the German version.
