"an" does not necessarily mean slightly thickened, and how slight is "slightly"? The person carrying out the repair will have plenty experience in this field and should know how viscous the mixture should be (i.e. not neat)

Doesn't the "an" imply that it is only slightly thickened, as opposed to "thickened"? |
