German term

Beschlagtechnik

German to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Glass doors
An excerpt from a catalogue for doors describing a technique for coating glass doors with laminate:

"Wir gehen immer neue Wege, um Ihnen das Besondere
bieten zu können. Zum Beispiel eine beschichtete
Laminat-Glastür, die wir mit der Beschlagstechnik aus
dem Glasbereich verbinden. So entsteht eine elegante
Tür, die wahlweise in stainless steel-, Holzoptik oder in
Unifarben zu haben ist."

Thanks in advance

(door) hardware/fittings/trim

I think this just refers to the hardware to be attached to the doors described in the text.

Thanks Colette, you could have added at the outset that you were absolutely sure re. the door coating. What about "tarnishing", then?
Note from asker:
Thanks for the input, though the excerpt is definitely describing the door coating as opposed to the fittings.
Hi Steffen, I just assumed that the context was clear from the text, but now that I read the excerpt again I can see that the blurb could also describe a coated door which combines the fittings from otherglass doors. Confusing indeed. Yes, a case of 2asking the customer". Thanks again!

agree Victor Dewsbery : Yes, I would go with door hardware

neutral Richard Benham : I can't rule this out, but it would seem more likely to be about coatings.//That's "varnishing"; tarnishing is what makes silver black....

... in which case we would talk about sth. like "tarnishing", wouldn't we? A classic case of "ask the customer", I'd say.
agree Teresa Reinhardt : Hardware [technology], definitely not coating

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hi Steffen. You're right: the terms refers to the hardware on the door and not the laminate coating. Confirmed and sealed by the client. Thanks to you all for helping me clear up this issue and I very much appreciate yout help."

This is it; "door fittings" come a very distant last...
