German term

Bedarfskalibrierung

German to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Calibration
Context:

Prozess
Bedarfskalibrierung

Part of the process for procuring measuring equipment (a subprocess towards the end of the overall process).
"Calibration requirements" would seem to make more sense than "Requirements calibration".
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

David Williams (asker) Apr 23, 2009:
I'd be happy to but since this is a process flow chart the context is rather sparse.
Bernd Runge Apr 23, 2009:
German context, please. David, would you please provide some more German context to make it easier on us.

remedial/unscheduled calibration

The following example found on a website differentiates between (normal) calibration, (scheduled) recalibration and "Bedarfskalibrierung", i.e. *additional* calibration carried out *as required*.
Siemens Fachwörterbuch industrielle Elektrotechnik suggests "remedial maintenance" for "Bedarfswartung". By analogy, something like "remedial calibration" may fit in your context.

Example:

As David Moore says, "Recalibration" may well do on its own, provided that there is no need to distinguish between "Bedarfskalibrierung" and, say, "Nachkalibrierung". Otherwise, something like "Additional calibration" (if calibration has already been referred to) or even just "Calibration (if/as required)".

@ Asker: Hence my original suggestions and my cautious, qualified recommendation of simpler, less specific solutions.
Note from asker:
Well, since this document is all about calibration, it is referred to in just about every other sentence (give or take a few)!

Thanks, Darin!
agree David Moore (X) : How about "recalibration as (or if) required"?//I'd avoid the "remedial" here, as it has to do with procurement. Just a personal view...

Slightly less concise, but if the context allows, then yes. I guess it depends whether or not "Nachkalibrierung" or similar is also knocking about to confuse matters.

calibration on demand

It is possible to do calibration on demand instead of calibration on command as mentioned above.
