German term

Zentrums-Hämodialyse vs. Zentrumsdialyse

German to English Medical Medical: Health Care Nephrology
In a list of charges for medical tests and treatments, for a patient who regularly goes for kidney dialysis, there are two different categories, one for "Zentrums-Hämodialyse, Patientenbetreuung", and one for "Zentrumsdialyse". The charges for the latter are several times higher than for the former.

I'm hoping someone familiar with German health system could explain the difference between these two categories of services (and/or suggested English translations). They are always both given on the same day, the two treatments accompany one another.
Thanks!

Thanks for information! Thanks, everyone, for the info about how this procedure is performed in Germany.

Patientenbetreuung is - IMHO - the keyword here.<br>
Your "Zentrums-Hämodialyse, Patientenbetreuung" charge code appears to refer to care, advice, councelling, etc. around the treatment by dialysis whereas the "Zentrumsdialyse" appears to refer to the actual use of the dialysis machine.

outpatient / inpatient hemodialysis Hemodialysis can be an outpatient or inpatient therapy. Routine hemodialysis is conducted in a dialysis outpatient facility, either a purpose built room in a hospital or a dedicated, stand alone clinic. Less frequently hemodialysis is done at home. Dialysis treatments in a clinic are initiated and managed by specialized staff made up of nurses and technicians; dialysis treatments at home can be self initiated and managed or done jointly with the assistance of a trained helper who is usually a family member.

in-center (hemo)dialysis

...I agree with Peter's comment!
From your information (cost difference) it seems as if the major aspect of the first term is the patient care provided during/around in-center dialysis, i.e. the translation could be:

"""""in-center (hemo)dialysis, patient care/services vs. in-center (hemo)dialysis [procedure]""""""
