I've seen the term "honorary captain" before and there's plenty of hits on the internet to go with the name, but having said that I'm not 100% sure.

: My first thought, or "honorary team captain", as posted by Nesrin below (Spielführer = older German term for [Mannschafts]kapitän) / Reminds me of the "Wunder von Bern" ;-)
