Questo è un termine che ricorre frequentemente nel Regolamento per un concorso di canto lirico: "I candidati esecutori, dovranno presentare un repertorio di cinque arie d’opera o indicare quale ruolo d’opera intendono approfondire durante il corso." L'altro termine ricorrente è "Corsisti Effettivi", che metterò come prossima domanda. Ma potete cominciare a pensarci su :)

Mi pare che, anche nel caso delle masterclass, oltre che nei concorsi, si utilizzi semplicemente "candidates", alternato a "singers" e "opera singers".

'The competition is open to opera singers of any nationality who have turned 18 by March 30, 2011. The competition will be divided into two categories:
- Emerging young singers: from 18 to 24 year of age;
- Professional singers: from 24 to 34 years of age.
The candidates whose age falls within the first category may request beforehand to be included in the “Professional Singers” category.
Selection and admission to the Competition will be based on the Jury’s evaluation of the audio and video materials submitted by the applicants, as well as on the curriculum. A maximum of 125 candidates will be admitted.'
