Należy więc wziąć wielomian wyższego rzędu, a więc trzeciego. W opisany już sposób konstruujemy liniowy układ czterech równań z czterema niewiadomymi, którego postać tutaj pominę. Rozwiązując układ otrzymamy wielomian trzeciego rzędu:

Może jednak chodzi o wielomian z trzema zmiennymi.

Stopniem całego wyrazu jest suma stopni zmiennych, stąd stopień powyższego wyrazu równy jest 3. Może więc być on traktowany jako jednomian, a zatem i wielomian.
