River Plate architecture?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Rosa Paredes

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Cecilia Rey Jun 22, 2010:
I think that Damian's suggestion is very good
Damian Hosford Jun 22, 2010:
Could you not get around it by stating "architecture of the River Plate area" if the text is already referring to Argentina?
Mariana Solanet (asker) Jun 22, 2010:
I'm considering translating the phrase as "Argentine architecture", since the article analyses German influence in Argentine architecture. In this case "rioplatense" is synonym of Argentine and not of the Rio de la Plata region which includes Uruguay.
Rosa Paredes Jun 22, 2010:
@asker I am an avid reader of Latinamerican History and 'Río de la Plata' is used to refer to the river or the region where the river is located; 'River Plate' is used as the adjevctive. Suerte.
Mariana Solanet (asker) Jun 22, 2010:
thanks, Phil, I included the River Plate option because in the UK it is common to refer to the Rio de la Plata as the River Plate. Still, I'm not too sure if it's the best choice.
philgoddard Jun 22, 2010:
Both your suggestions are fine. I prefer Rio Plata to River Plate.

Encontré esto que tal vez te ayude:

The Río de la Plata (Spanish: "River of Silver") – always rendered River Plate in British English and the Commonwealth, and occasionally rendered [La] Plata River in other English-speaking countries – is the river formed by the combination of the Uruguay River and the Paraná River. It is a funnel-shaped indentation on the southeastern coastline of South America, extending 290 kilometres (180 mi) from the rivers' confluence to the Atlantic Ocean.
