I found the following definition in spanish, and I tried to look for it in magician products catalogues, but I didn't have success. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Los Porta-infinitos son unos ingeniosos dispositivos articulados que se abren por medio de flejes para crear una especie de “ambientación” portátil. Su operación es, en gran medida, equivalente a habitar un caleidoscopio. Estos cascos o escafandras están construidos como prismas de espejos que, al colocarlos sobre nuestros hombros, bloquean enteramente la vista para sumergirnos en un mundo privado por igual utópico, divertido y aterrador, debido a la multiplicación de nuestra imagen y los fragmentos de nuestro entorno, lo que equivale a que, en un lugar del horizonte, su usuario sólo puede observar el punto aleph de la progresión infinita de los reflejos.

From what I have found it appears that this device is quite special to a Mexican artist, Fabiola Torres Alzaga. I cannot find any similar devices produced by English artists.
The same day, Fabiola Torres-Alzaga will present three of her Porta-infinitos in the Sala de Arte Publico Siqueiros’ Reading Rooom. These Porta-infinitos are suitcases which after being unfolded, transform into optical devices for personal use.

I have changed the source term to singular for clarity; from the artist's site, http://fabiolatorresalzaga.blogspot.com, it's clear that each device is called a 'porta-infinito', using the singular. Would recommend keeping the original but also including a translation in square brackets.
Spanish words beginning in 'porta-' can have a startling variety of meanings, some but not all involving portability (portalápices, portaequipaje, portaaviones, portafolio), others involving the 'holding' (portapapeles, portaminas) or 'framing' (portarretratos) of something.
In this case, it seems to me that the sense of portability is important to 'porta-infinito' and this influences my paired suggestions.

The same sort of tone that the 'astounding facts' author Panati strikes with the title of his book series, 'Panati's Extraordinary Origins of Ordinary Things'. In any case, that's something of the tone I seek in my proposal.
