Source text - English In today's Western society women have to deal with all kinds of expectations. They must behave in a certain way, look a certain way and live according to a certain pattern. If a woman does not live up to these expectations, she will most likely feel the pressure of her environment to do so. But what women don't realize is that when they try to fit into these expected forms, they dim their own unique light. Their inner fire slowly dies and their life force decreases. As a result, women end up with an empty, exhausted feeling and the question where the playful, exuberant and wild girl that they once were has gone. This is the girl who dances, screams, rolls on the floor and always says what she thinks, even if it is inappropriate. Even though it is perceived as ugly, weird or scary. It is simply her truth and she will speak that truth. There is a desire in her body to discover the world, to connect with others and to live fully. What happened to this girl? She has been told that she must be quiet, that she must be polite and look sweet. She has been told that girls do not behave that way and that girls must be sweet and civilized. And so it happened. The girl adjusted herself, wore the right clothes and spoke softly and politely. She learned how to please others at the expense of her own boundaries and desires. And deep inside, the fire, which once burned with passion and power, slowly started to die.
Translation - Dutch In de huidige westerse samenleving hebben vrouwen te maken met allerlei soorten verwachtingen. Ze moeten zich op een bepaalde manier gedragen, er op een bepaalde manier uit zien en volgens een bepaald patroon leven. Wanneer een vrouw deze verwachtingen niet naleeft, zal ze hoogstwaarschijnlijk de druk voelen van haar omgeving om dat toch wel te doen. Maar wat vrouwen zich niet realiseren is dat wanneer ze zich in deze verwachte vormen proberen te passen, ze hun eigen unieke licht dimmen. Hun innerlijk vuur dooft langzaam uit en hun levenskracht neemt af. Als gevolg hiervan eindigen vrouwen met een leeg, uitgeput gevoel en de vraag waar het speelse, uitbundige en wilde meisje is gebleven dat ze ooit waren. Dit is het meisje dat danst, gilt, over de grond rolt en altijd zegt wat ze denkt, ookal is het ongepast. Ookal wordt het gezien als lelijk, raar of eng. Het is nu eenmaal haar waarheid en die waarheid zal ze spreken. Er is een verlangen in haar lichaam om de wereld te ontdekken, om te verbinden met anderen en om vollop te leven. Wat is er met dit meisje gebeurd? Haar is verteld dat ze stil moest zijn, dat ze beleefd moest zijn en er lief uit moest zien. Haar is verteld dat meisjes zich niet zo gedragen en dat meisjes lief en beschaafd moeten zijn. En zo geschiedde. Het meisje pastte zich aan, droeg de juiste kleren en sprak zachtjes en beleefd. Ze leerde zich hoe ze anderen kon behagen, ten koste van haar eigen grenzen en verlangens. En diep van binnen begon het vuur, dat ooit brandde vol passie en kracht, langzaam te doven.

Born into a family of language teachers, I quickly learned about the beauty and complexity of language. As a consequence, in high school, I chose all the language courses available. This lead to me mastering both French and German at an intermediate level and English on an advanced level. As a native Dutch speaker, the quality of my Dutch writing is naturally advanced. Correct grammar and spelling are imbedded in my writing, as I have been raised and educated with a strong focus on adequate usage of language.
During my academic education, I learned to write academically in both English and Dutch. During my studies, I worked as a communication and marketing intern, giving me the skills to write short and engaging texts. This skill I still use for content creation and translation which I do for a Dutch yoga school. I write in both English and Dutch and translate easily for what is needed.
