Description This 90-minute session provides basic information and terminology used in legal settings. Topics include information on the major legal systems and law specialties, and more than 500 commonly used terms. This content was created by Claudia Brauer. Target audience Translators Interpreters Editors Learning objectives - General understanding of basic legal concepts - Terminology generally used in legal encounters - Listings and study recommendations to improve your knowledge of legal terminology Prerequisites Sufficient command of English to understand the session. Participation: PREPARATION materials will be shared BEFORE each session, and HANDS-ON exercises will be suggested to be completed AFTER each session. The student is expected to be fully engaged in the session with ACTIVE listening, individual thinking and processing of information, as well as hands-on note-taking and interactive activities. This is a fast-pace session with an upbeat and lively mood, that requires full engagement on the part of the participant.
