Worked as a Psychologist for 2 years only. I was then employed by the British Embassy in Montevideo, where I worked for 18 years, being in charge, mainly, of Management tasks, IT & System Administration, Website platform, International Organisation and Diplomacy. tasks, and part-time translation on an every-day basis. All these years further allowed me to deepen my knowledge of English and the English culture, working in an English-speaking environment 5 days a week for the 18 years I mention above.
Later, I decided to dedicate my time and myself to what I love most, language and translation. I took a course to prepare for the London Chartered Institute of Linguists (UK) examination (Diploma in Translation, or DipTransIoLET, equivalent to a MA in Translation) in the English-Spanish pair, which I sat and passed with a Merit in Science in 2008.
Today, I work as a freelance English-Spanish-English translator. My fields of expertise are mostly in the Technical field, Mechanics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, Machinery, etc., but of course, in the long path during those previous years, and except for the Law, Specialised Medicine and Biology and Pharmaceutical fields, I can say I can check most of other fields as "done". I work on an daily basis with another technical and legal translator. We both translate and then proofread each other's work, which guarantees us and our clients, high quality translations.
I use mainstream CAT tools, like SDL Trados, SDLX, Idiom and other company-specific translation platforms.
I also work, when required, as a technical interpreter for training courses with the local branch of John Deere International (Heavy Machinery).
