I appreciate the opportunity to access the recording of the sessions and watch them at a convenient time, since my time zone was not ideal for following and actively participating. The chats were probably already past peak time when I joined. I hope to be able to follow one of the live sessions on Saturday.

Time From To Content
15:33 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All Right. And do you try to explain it to them?
15:33 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Agree with Peter
15:34 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All it is a more polite and kind manner of saying that if you give little time, you will have a surcharge. :)
15:34 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All And why THEY never seem understand that the less time we have, the more the translation process will suffer?
15:34 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I don't have to. Baking a bread takes time, whether you have lots of time or not.
15:35 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All so, basically, you charge the same price no matter the time given?
15:35 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All David: only (very) few clients understand the reasoning behind a surcharge. Even weekends are now considered as any other week days
15:35 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All You cannot lower your prices if you get more them. You can only pull up your prices if you have to do a rush job, because in that case you hae to work late rhours an dextra hours.
15:36 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I meant: "You cannot lower your prices if you get more time".
15:36 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All for me if the client gives me a lot of time, I can distribute the job during the week or the month, avoiding to superimpose over other jobs or activities I have
15:36 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All But you still need the same amount of tiem.
15:37 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All So, basically you're saying you're always billing for late hours/extra hours?
15:37 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All I did a job recently with other two translators. The time we had was 1 month and a half to complete a job that would normally require four...
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All four... ???
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All four months!
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All But is that a reason to lower your prices?
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Manuela Ribecai: 1214732 All I understand César, but agree with Peter
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All David is out?
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Or César...
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All no
15:38 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All I am here
15:39 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Ah, I see, you're back. I must have hit a key.
15:39 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All I am not lowering, only surcharging when there is little time
15:39 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All :)
15:39 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Because this is Italy, and because publishers pay very little here, there isn't much leeway. Take it or leave it.
