Explanation:
También se usa mucho con "c" en lugar de "z". Ortográficamente en realidad sería lo correcto usar "c" antes de "i", y un análsis rápido de los resultados de la búsqueda en google para sitios en español muestra que los sitios de paises hispanos tienden más a usar la "c".

Por ejemplo:

www.inta.gov.ar/bellavista/ info/documentos/citricos/hd9.htm (sitio del INTA en Argentina)

http://www.cipav.org.co/lrrd/lrrd15/12/gonza1512.htm (sitio del CIPAV en Colombia)

http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?pid=S0301-732X2003000200006&... (sitio de la SciELO Chile en Chile)

http://web2.senasica.sagarpa.gob.mx/xportal/dgsa/mrni/Doc760... (sitio del SENASICA de México)

y hay más de Uruguay, España y unos cuantos ".com". De todas maneras probablemente el uso con "z" esté igualmente aceptado y sea una cuestión de preferencia.
