Here is the proof I have found a link "http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/woof" where 'woof' is used as an interjection. As an interjection its meaning has been given as "an imitation of the bark or growl of a dog" which is ਵਊ-ਵਊ in Punjabi.

I Disagree 'ਹਾਏ ਰੱਬਾ' as translated by you is from the perspective of the writer ਯਾਨੀ ਆਲੋਚਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਕੇ ਲੇਖਕ ‘ਹਾਏ ਰੱਬਾ!’ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। If this were true, then a simple term like ‘oh my god’ would have been there. One more thing, I have never seen word 'woof' used in the context of expressing 'fear or hatred' towards someone. If you have seen it, please share with me the link.

I strongly believe ‘woof’ is written from the perspective of ‘critiques’ who ‘are ready to bite’.

term 'woof' is not about fear/hatred of critiques If you translate entire text, the meaning of 'woof' in the given context becomes clear. ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ’ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨੇਕ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਹਿਸ-ਨਹਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦੰਦ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੈਠੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਣ, ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ-ਬਰ-ਤਿਆਰ!

"Sharpening Their Teeth, Ready to bite you" My interpretation is that this text wants to say that sometimes critiques behave like 'dogs' (not literally). As we say in Punjabi, "ਐਵੇਂ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਨਾ ਭੌਂਕੀ ਜਾ", which means "ਅਵਾ-ਤਵਾ ਨਾ ਬੋਲ"। So in the given context "Critiques sit all day, sharpening their teeth, ready to bite you" and make "woofing sound". In Punjabi, ਅਵਾ-ਤਵਾ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਯਾਨੀ ਕਿ ‘ਵਊ-ਵਊ’ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

WOOF is not a meaningful English word, which could have an accurate Punjabi translation.

We need to think creatively and use a suitable Punjabi word to convey the gesture.
