The Hero / The Villain / The Renegade Explanation: I would advise against using 'chief' for anything literary. It's stilted government language nowadays. Главный герой (персонаж) is usually translated as the protagonist. However, in your context he is obviously a positive character, so you can actually call him The Hero. The Traitor is a possible option for The Renegade.
