Are you sure this text was originally written in English? It sounds a bit stilted in more than one place. Could "world of living" be "life-world" in the phenomenological sense, i.e. the world as immediately experienced (see Encycl. Britannica article cited below).
Then it would be translated "le monde de la vie"(see title by Merleau-Ponty cited below).
Alternatively, if it were "world of the living" (as opposed to some afterlife, otherworld) it would be "monde des vivants" but that doesn't seem to fit as well, judging from the brief context.
