Translation - English 2.2.11 Additional Areas
Entrance Area
The entrance area connected to the main entrance of the school will be one of the central areas in the entire building complex. It is the first area one meets when entering through the main entrance and it is to give the building complex a complete character, where it is easy to get an overview of all the facilities and orientate one self in the many different areas.
The entrance area should have a simple physical connection and close visual contact to the administration – and staff area, so visitors can easily find the place, where they should ad-dress themselves.
School Stand – Cantina
I extension to the concept of “new school food” by the municipality of Copenhagen, that is to be launched in 2009, a reception kitchen and a school stand is to be established connecting to a café area / cantina, where the pupils can each their lunch in inspiring surroundings. It is needed, that the future school also creates space for the food – meaning space for cooking it as well as eating it.
The School Stand / The Kitchen
A stand with an adjoining reception – and arranging kitchen is to be established, from which food produced in a central kitchen can be sold every day. The school stand should be placed in a central place in the school, so it is to be perceived that the food has a high priority in the school, and so it is accessible for the school’s pupils and staff. It is also to be taken into account, that many groceries will be delivered to a cantina as such and that there will be a lot of waste leaving it as well.
