Experience
Years of experience: 11. Registered at ProZ.com: Jan 2015.
I am a Swedish translator with experience in the profession since 2012, and member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ). I specialize in tourism & travel, EU affairs, product marketing and the clothing industry. While focusing on creating up-to-date, quality translations in my fields of expertise, I am always interested in collaborating on new challenging projects.
Languages I translate from: English, Japanese, Danish, Norwegian and German into Swedish.
Background:
I first began working part-time as a freelance translator alongside my studies in the field of translation and interpretation at a vocational college in Tokyo (Japanese/English). After completing this 2-year degree course in Japan, I moved back to Sweden and continued studying Japanese at Stockholm University, which I chose to broaden with linguistics and German. I received my bachelor's degree in June 2015, and my main field of study was Japanese. In my thesis I made a comparative analysis on the techniques used for translating culture-bound idiomatic expressions in two different Swedish translations of two Japanese novels. Writing this also provided me with more insight and knowledge about the history of translation studies, as well as predominant theories and opinions produced by important translators and linguists in this relatively young academic discipline.
lineExamples of previous translation translation, proofreading and transcription jobs:
- EU documents regarding e.g. regulations, directives, press releases, trade and procurement - Travel guides, points of interest and user interface for Expedia & hotels.com, Trivago and Costa Cruises - Technical manuals for German automobile manufacturers such as Daimler and BMW - Product marketing for e.g. Björn Borg, Levi's, Nike, Fjällräven and Ray-Ban - Web content for a Japanese language school's homepage - Transcription of a Sports interview from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London - Subtitling parts of TV-series
