As a Translator I have developed very strong skills translating and proofreading. I have collaborated enhancing translation software databases, building specialized dictionaries in different professional areas, idioms and slang, proofreading machine-translated texts, creating word lists and others. My experience began back in 1988 as a Technical Writer for TecApro, a Costa Rican software company that has used my services for some of their projects on different occasions.
Throughout my experience during fourteen years I have been able to master the whole process of managing a project—from setting adequate localized terminology and glossary writing for each specific product, task assigning, supervising, giving technical support and troubleshooting, coordinating with in-house and freelance translators and proofreaders, performing quality control at all stages or phases, translating, proofreading and desktop publishing to testing and delivering a final work on time—meeting the highest standards in the market.
My grammar skills are strong and I am very sensitive to problems in translation. My organizational skills are strong and I am very detail-oriented without loosing the objective. I have developed these skills throughout my years of studies, working as Translator/Interpreter and Language Teacher as well (including grammar and translation courses). Computers, e-mail and MS Office are part of my work tools and I have also taught computer courses, among others, at Sanz School, Inc. in Washington, D.C.
