Hi,

We think 1) the annual rate for ApSIC Xbench is pretty high. Also, we are looking for a tool with:
2) slightly clearer error highlighting that would be somewhat easier to grasp for the user
3) lower false positive ratio (the false positive ratio is quite high with Xbench in the case of pro-level human translation)
4) SDL Trados Studio integration (via a plug-in or something like that). This is a plus. However, it is not a compulsory feature as having this featu

However, it is not a compulsory feature as having this feature on board could potentially turn out to be a price driver.

The focus, then, in order to ease the finding, is on price, over the other three factors. Should any alternative software suggested be less feature-rich than Xbench, this would not be a problem at all for us as our focus is clearly on human finalization. Performance is important though. It has to be quick to carry out its daily operations.

Cheers,

Xbench 3.0 for €99/year? Jul 7

Are you talking about Xbench 3.0 for €99/year or something else?

Try https://e-verifika.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvdlVDQQULo
Plugin for SDL Trados Studio: https://e-verifika.com/download-verifika/
However its $89 for freelancers (2 machines) and $369 for LSPs. Not much different...

Stepan, you are correct, I am talking about Xbench 3.0. I realize that Xbench 2.9 is freeware. Does anyone happen to know how it compares to Xbench 3.0 quality-wise, feature-wise or possibly even performance-wise? I mean this could be worth looking into, as, with this search and recommendation request, the focus is, like I said, mainly on price. As regards Verifika, which is 79 euros per year, based on the current exchange rate on the dollar, I have found this rating: https://www.proz.com/software-comparison-tool/tool/verifika_quality_assurance_tool_for_translators/137
I will look into it. Thanks very much, Stepan.

Cheers,

Hi Jorge,

I think this is definitely worth a look and will test it although I have not found any specific ratings that go beyond informed name-dropping or basic information on what it does on the freely accessible part of the Internet. It seems to be more limited in the scope of its features and supported file formats than Verifika/Xbench. I can see, for example, that XLIFF 2.0 is not supported, which is supported by SDL Trados Studio 2019, besides XLIFF 1.2, which QA Distiller does support.

I'm going to try it out.

And yes, I do know the Belgian translation agency that makes it. I am looking into whether it continues to be supported and developed, or not, now that it is donationware.

Or maybe I will not. I would like to be able to download it directly from Yamagata Europe's website, as I need to trust the provider of software to download it, but I cannot. Download server is down.

Cheers,

I have decided to skip CheckMate although the screenshots look promising and it is contained in various QA software lists for translators on blogs, etc. It is Open Source software and I would have to install Java 8 to run it. I am not fully comfortable with that. Also, Xbench 2.9 is freeware, too. ErrorSpy, which I remember to be somewhat pricier than Xbench 3.0, does not disclose its pricing on its website, as far as I can tell, so I will not look into it.

Thanks,

Cheers,

AIT’s AceProof? Jul 8

Never use it, and I can’t say I am particularly enamoured of AIT (who also make TO3000, AnyCount, etc.), but you might have a look at: https://www.aceproof.com/
