Time From To Content
13:30 Jun 6, 2014 Nicole Y. Adams, M.A.: 117097 All Someone already does that, Lucia. I can't find the URL now, but I think it's a great idea.
13:30 Jun 6, 2014 Nicole Y. Adams, M.A.: 117097 All (tech services)
13:31 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All audio guides also have to be translated ;)
13:31 Jun 6, 2014 Nicole Y. Adams, M.A.: 117097 All Found it: http://www.qabiria.com/index.php/en/services/for-translators/technical-services-for-translators.html
13:31 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All I think tech services could be a good option, right? We have certain tech knowledge that we acquired out of necessity and that others don't (maybe yet), so why not charging for those skills?
13:31 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All DTP. Interesting. I wanted to add that as an extra service for my clients. The idea was not actually to do DTP, because that's a highly specalised field. Moreover, if you want to do DTP, you should ask yourself some questions like: how am I getting photograpsh? Drawings? I know some people who do DTP work, and they all have an arts education.
13:32 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Voice overs and so on demand a good voice, and some acting talent. Actors will tell you that half of the acting is speaking. That explains why so often singers try their hands at acting.
13:32 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All Interesting Nicole.
13:33 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All that is true Paul, but it can be a way to go for some translators
13:33 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All depending on their background
13:34 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Tech services, would that be an hourly rate?
13:34 Jun 6, 2014 Paulinho Fonseca: 1488575 All Good questions Peter?
13:34 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All Sorry, I meant Peter, not Paul
13:34 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All Not sure, it sounds more like something you would charge by final product perhaps?
13:36 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Yes, but if you would be paid by the word for eg a terminology list, than you might end up with a necessarily high word price. I think some of those tech services should be paid by the hour, and done on the client's site, so that he can notice your charging him a ligitimate amount of hours.
13:37 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Hey, that's annoying: the link to the list of specialities dissappeared from my screen. But it's a list of Proz.com itself. It should be easily found.
13:38 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All sENDING IT AGAIN, ONE SEC...
13:39 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All Oooops, sorry about the caps : :8
13:39 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All here it is: http://wiki.proz.com/wiki/index.php/Services
13:39 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All Remember that you can contribute to that list as well.
13:39 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Thank you.
13:39 Jun 6, 2014 Lucia Leszinsky: 855539 All ;)
13:40 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All About diversifying our client base ...
13:41 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All ok, copywriting should definitely not be the only kind of writing in this list
13:42 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Mmm, I consider translating and writing (whatever kind) as two very different beasts.
