Please give me feedback about charging for a whole day or by the hour for simultaneous interpreting?
How about for traveling expenses?

In Germany we charge only for the whole day. If you have any travel or accommodation expenses, it comes on top.

That seems to be the general practice all over Europe: half-day or full day, travel/accommodation on top.

On another note, I would like to warn you against taking a simultaneous interpreting job if you have no training/practice in the field. It is bound to end in a tears unless you happen to be a God-given talent or the job is exceptionally easy.

I would only consider an hourly rate if the job was really close to home. Beyond half an hour's travelling time, I'd also require that time to be covered by the client. It is almost always best to charge at least for half a day, with travel, accommodation etc. to be covered by the client.
A whole day is not necessarily 2 half-days. You have to be careful with clients who try to say they need you for half a day when that starts at 08h00 and finishes at the start of the afternoon.
